MEDIA RELEASE - Comments invited on community plan
June 2015
The Shire of Manjimup Strategic Community Plan 2015-2025 and Corporate Business Plan 2015-2019 have undergone a minor review in line with the requirements of the State Government's Integrated Planning Framework.
The original documents were released in 2013 following a period of community engagement in the form of workshops, surveys, meetings and informal discussions. Shire President Wade DeCampo explained how the Strategic Community Plan 2015-2025 is largely based on the visions and values of the community, saying "the consultation process helped us draw out what really matters to the community; your aspirations, your priorities and what makes the Shire of Manjimup such a special place to live and work."
The Corporate Business Plan 2015-2019 is a breakdown of the Strategic Community Plan, "turning an aspirational document into something more operational and measureable," said Cr DeCampo. The review has seen both documents updated with the most up to date informing strategies, key performance indicators associated with those strategies, resourcing plans, current statistics and recent projections. The most significant amendment has been the inclusion of an additional strategy under the 'Our Community' theme, titled 'Managing growth that ensures vibrant townships, retention of their characteristics and housing choice/affordability'.
"Read in conjunction with one another, these documents demonstrate the Shire's capacity and ability to achieve the aspirations of the community and set the Shire's priorities in terms of the services and programs that we deliver," said Cr DeCampo.
"These documents that have undergone a review belong to the Community and this is why your feedback is so important. Please take in what these documents mean to you and provide the Shire with comment before Thursday 23 July, as all comments will be considered by Council before the documents are adopted," said Cr DeCampo.
A major review of the Integrated Planning Framework documents will take place in 2017,once again involving community consultation through workshops, surveys and other feedback sessions.
