Manjimup Timber and Heritage Park - playground to reach new heights
MEDIA RELEASE - Playground to reach new heights
February 2016
The state-of-the-art adventure playground at the Manjimup Timber and Heritage Park is set to reach new heights, with the addition of stairs and a giant slide. These structures will be the finishing touches to the playground, which was funded as a part of the Town Centre Revitalisation project under the State Government's Royalties for Regions, SuperTowns initiative.
Shire President Wade DeCampo explained that the new additions have been greatly anticipated by locals and visitors alike, saying "it's another unique feature that sets this adventure playground apart from any of the others in the South West and even further afield - it will certainly be a drawcard."
The stairs will stand 17 metres high with the exit for the slide from 12 metres high. The stairs will be installed towards the end of February. The tubular slide, which is currently being constructed offsite, will be installed soon thereafter.
The design and construction plans have been formulated by expert engineers, who have ensured that the stairs and slide both meet all appropriate building and playground safety standards.
"The stairs and slide are both unique in the way that they will be constructed and because of their size. People can be certain that our team will ensure that we deliver the best product possible," said Cr DeCampo.
"All of the elements of town centre revitalisation are complementary and are aimed at providing both a town where people want to live and a place that people want to come and visit time and time again," said Cr DeCampo. "To set ourselves apart from other country towns and tourist destinations, we need to provide something that isn't available anywhere else. From unique play equipment, a culinary precinct in the town centre and an entry and exit to town that is attractive, we're building on our appeal and marketability and making the Shire of Manjimup an alluring destination and smart place to invest."
