MEDIA RELEASE - National youth week celebration a success in Northcliffe
April 2017
The annual free Youth Week event is took place in Northcliffe this year to tie into the national, week-long celebration that was being promoted from 31 March 2017 - 9 April 2017.Activities kicked-off at 11am on Saturday, 8 April at the Skate Park on Zamia Street in Northcliffe and concluded around 4pm.
More than 250 people attended the event, which was organised by the Shire of Manjimup Youth Network. Shire President Paul Omodei issued a very special thank you to the community of Northcliffe, saying "I'm told that the success of the event can be attributed to the many community members who volunteered their time to make the day so engaging and inspiring for those who attended."
Congratulations to the winner of the Drug and Alcohol questionnaire - Isabel Reed - and well done to everyone who took part in the activity.
Activities included bubble soccer, a dunk tank, tie dying and rock climbing, with one of the biggest drawcards sure to be the local musical acts and the 'Flaming Idiots Circus', who provided entertainment for the crowd throughout the day. Local youth were heavily involved in the planning of the event, including identifying the types of activities that would take place on the day and making decisions about the logistics, such as the type of food to prepare and provide at the event.
