It is with great pleasure that the Manjimup Art Gallery unveils a collection of works by two gifted emerging artists in the new Introducing…… exhibition.
Introducing… features the work of Lily Gibbs-Hughes, winner of the inaugural Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival Young Artist Award in 2019. Lily works in a wide assortment of colours and textiles. This collection showcases her foray into acrylics in an effort to extend her artistic ability by exploring other media. Her works feature a series of bold, bright, almost abstract paintings with an underlining fashion theme. It includes instances where the images featured are translated into examples of contemporary fashion design; further highlighting Lily’s creativity across a range of media.
Winner of the 2020 Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival Young Artist Award, Ebony Barnes is the second artist featured in Introducing… Ebony has produced a stunning range of works featuring iconic images depicting life on the land. They reflect her love and respect for the agricultural industry and the people who choose to make their living in it. Ebony’s paintings will resonate with locals and delight visitors through their authentic portrayal of farming life.
Both artists have created a strong body of work over a twelve-month period. Shire President, Paul Omodei said ‘they should be commended for their creativity and commitment and their extraordinary talent will be on show for all to see’.
Introducing… will be on display at the Manjimup Art Gallery from 5-31 January 2022.
