Winning photographs are used by the Shire of Manjimup to promote and market the Southern Forests as a whole, enticing visitors and locals to enjoy the region and strengthening local economy through increased visitor numbers. Photographers retain ownership of their photographs.
Sixty one photographs were entered into the inaugural competition, all photographs met the criteria of including faces/people enjoying places in the Southern Forests. Judging took place on Friday 27 October 2017. Chief Judge Kingsley Klau, President of the Western Australian Photographic Association, was impressed with the overall quality of the images presented.
Prizes were awarded at the opening night of the Photographic exhibit by Deputy Shire President Cliff Winfield. Cr Winfield commended the quality and number of photographs submitted for the inaugural competition noting that the best way to promote a region is through the eyes of those that know it best.
