Shire of Manjimup and East Manjimup Primary School are the winners of the Junior Primary School category of the Western Australian Local Government Banners in the Terrace competition for 2018. The competition winners were announced at the 2018 WA Local Government Convention and Exhibition, which attracts more than 600 Local Government representatives and over 100 suppliers to the sector.
The annual Banners in the Terrace Competition has categories open to primary and secondary schools, community groups and professional artists. 66 Local Governments entered the Banners in the Terrace competition run by the WA Local Government Association as part of its annual Convention at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
WALGA Chief Executive Officer Ricky Burges said the banners illustrate the vast range of landscapes and lifestyles across this great State.
"The submissions highlight the efforts of each community that spent countless hours creating their artworks, showcasing an incredible level of creativity and artistic standards," she said. "Having them displayed along Adelaide Terrace gave all visitors to the city a colourful insight into the diversity of our State."
Shire President Paul Omodei said the Shire of Manjimup is very proud of East Manjimup Primary School, "congratulations to all the students in Pre Primary and Year 1 for their outstanding contribution to the Western Australian Local Government Banners competition". Mr Omodei also acknowledges Local Artist Sarah Connor along with staff from East Manjimup Primary School for their guidance in the arts project.
