Works have commenced on the construction of new car parks, a roundabout and coach drop off bay at the Shire of Manjimup Heritage Park. Tree removal is taking place and the civil contractor is due to commence works shortly after.
The Giblett Street road reserve between the newly completed roundabout and Graphite Road will remain closed and is due to be repurposed as a new car park in late 2019.
Parking near the main entrance of the park will be disrupted for a short period of time while the upgrades are taking place. Park visitors are encouraged to use the parking outside the Roundhouse opposite the Wellness and Respite Community Centre.
At the completion of works, the park will have:
- 87 new parking bays;
- five disabled parking bays;
- ten motorcycle bays;
- up to 10 long vehicle bays;
- a coach drop of bay outside the South West Energy Experience for private and TransWA coaches; and
- a trafficable roundabout on the corner of Rose and Giblett Streets to slow and help direct traffic.
All parking will be connected to the park with sealed accessible pathways.
'These civil works around the Heritage Park are integral to connecting the South West Energy Experience Museum and the new town site entry roundabout, as well as encouraging park and town centre use and repeat visitation' said Shire President Paul Omodei.
Park visitors and general motorists are advised to drive with caution around the park, the Shire of Manjimup apologises for any inconvenience.
