The Shire of Manjimup's annual community grants round for 2019-2020 opens on Monday 4 February 2019, allowing another opportunity for community groups and organisations to seek funding for projects, events or activities.
Each year Council allocates up to 2% of the Shire's rates income back to the community by way of grants. Last year this equated to $180,502 in cash support for local events, sporting clubs, community centres, art projects, community gardens, youth zones and more.
It is a great opportunity for groups, however they are required to be incorporated to receive funds. Groups which are not incorporated are still able to apply but must nominate the name and ABN details of an auspicing organisation to receive funds on their behalf, if successful.
The annual round of community grants is an extremely worthwhile exercise for organisations to seek funding. Shire President Paul Omodei said "Funding is available over four categories: events, community projects; financial assistance; and youth and chaplaincy. We know the funding can be essential to the success of community events and projects. Cr Omodei added "If you think you have a worthy idea let us hear about it."
Application forms can be downloaded here, picked up from the Shire Administration Centre, or from the Manjimup, Pemberton, Northcliffe and Walpole Community Resource Centres and public libraries.
Groups wanting more information or to discuss their ideas are welcome to attend one of the upcoming 'Meet the Community Services Team' forums which will be held in each town throughout February 2019.
