New corporate plan to support community's vision
MEDIA RELEASE - Council adopts new corporate plan to support community's vision
June 2017
The Shire of Manjimup Council, at its most recent meeting, formally adopted a new Strategic Community Plan 2017-2027 and Corporate Business Plan 2017-2021 following a major review of both documents. These documents are the two highest-level strategic plans administered by the Shire.
The Strategic Community Plan (ten-year plan) outlines the strategic priorities to address the community's long-term vision. The priorities and goals of the Strategic Community Plan are driven by community engagement and takes a whole of Shire' approach, meaning that every Shire resident, community organisation and business could potentially contribute to our desired community goals and to ultimately achieve the vision we all share. State and federal government agencies also have a part to play in delivering the Plan's strategies.
The Strategic Community Plan is entirely underpinned by the aspirations and values of the people who matter the most - Shire residents and ratepayers, said Shire President, Paul Omodei. We received more than 730 contributions from community members through participation in surveys, workshops and meetings, which has allowed us to conduct rigorous statistical analysis on the collected data and enabled us to produce a plan that truly reflects the community's vision for our region.
The Corporate Business Plan (four-year plan) defines the actions the Shire will undertake to contribute to the achievement of the community goals and strategies outlined in the Strategic Community Plan. This plan will be the key reference for the Shire's administration when it comes to its priority focus and when submitting quarterly and annual progress reports on outcomes.
The actions contained within the Corporate Business Plan are specific, measureable and realistic and directly linked to the community's goals, said Omodei. The community can keep an eye on our progress as we will publish our achievements against both plans in the Shire's Annual Report at the end of the new financial year.
Copies of the plans can be downloaded here or viewed at one of the Shire's public libraries in Manjimup, Pemberton, Northcliffe or Walpole.
