Cr Omodei re-elected as Shire President
At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 24 October 2019, Cr Paul Omodei was re-elected unopposed as the Shire President. Cr Jayde Darin was elected as Deputy Shire President. The Shire President and Deputy positions are for a two year term until October 2021.
Cr Omodei expressed his gratitude to Councillors, "I thank you Councillors for your confidence and appreciate your support. I have been President on two previous occasions and this will now take me to ten years as President".
Cr Omodei acknowledged other candidates that stood for the election, welcomed those that were successful and expressed commiserations to those that were unsuccessful, particularly sitting councillors. "I will be doing everything I can to welcome and assist the new Councillors, to ensure we act collegiately to enhance our reputation amongst our piers".
He welcomed Cr Jayde Darin as his Deputy and thanked Cr Winfield for his support as past Deputy Shire President.
I know the district, I was born in Manjimup and raised in Pemberton, I have a good understanding of the issues we are facing. I want to lead a team that works well together and I want to enhance the reputation of our Shire in the overall Local Government sector. When I go to the Shire of Perenjori as Commissioner, I go as the President of the Shire of Manjimup, I go there to enhance the reputation and the credibility of the Shire of Manjimup." said Cr Omodei.
A swearing in ceremony for newly elected and re-elected Councillors was conducted by Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Campbell; Robert Taylor and Denise Jenkins (Central Ward) and Kenneth Lawrence (West Ward). Susan Dawson Vidovich who was absent from the meeting, will be sworn in at the next Council meeting to be held on 14 November 2019.
