MEDIA RELEASE - First light poles displayed on Mottram Street
January 2015
Four new decorative light poles were installed on Mottram Street in Manjimup this week, giving residents and visitors a visible reminder of the changes occurring as a part of the Town Centre Revitalisation project, funded by the Royalties for Regions SuperTowns program.
A total of 70 decorative light poles will be installed along Manjimup's main corridor over the coming months. The first stage will see the installation and energisation, or 'lighting up', of 40 light poles. The second stage, due to commence in late February, will involve the removal of the overhead power lines and the installation of the remaining 30 light poles.
The design of the light poles is a stand, dark in colour, with a red feature swirl three quarters of the way up the pole. Shire President Wade DeCampo explains "whilst the light poles have the traditional overhead light, the feature swirl is also illuminated."
"The design reflects the diversity of our region and communities - diverse produce, diverse landscapes, diverse culture, diverse backgrounds and diverse traditions," said Cr DeCampo.
It is anticipated this project will be completed in late March 2015.
