Let your memories become a part of history
MEDIA RELEASE - Let your memories become a part of history
February 2017
The Shire of Manjimup has joined up with Manjimup Photo Club to host a photography acquisition prize titled '2017, a year of Places and Faces'.The competition will run until October 2017 and everyone is encouraged to submit a photograph, which will put you in the running to win from a prize pool of $4,500 and potentially see your photo appear in various publications for years to come.
The competition came about as a part of the promotional campaign for the Southern Forests. "In order to really showcase the true Southern Forests, we need a gallery of images to choose from, and one of the best methods we could think of to stock that gallery is to have the photos taken by the people who have a real love, appreciation and understanding of the region," explained Shire President Wade DeCampo.
There are two basic criteria for photos to meet in order to be eligible to enter this completion - they need to be taken within the Southern Forests region (Shire of Manjimup) and contain a person, or people, enjoying themselves.
"This day in age, with modern cameras and even mobile phones, almost anybody can go out and take a good photo of landscape or scenery. But what we're really looking for is photos of the experience. If you can capture the feelings that a certain place or moment in time brings out in you and/or the people in the photo, even if it is just by chance, I strongly urge you to submit your photo into this competition," added Cr DeCampo.
Further details, suggestions and associated entry forms are available from www.manjimup.wa.gov.au - terms and conditions apply and an entry form and authority form must be completed for every photo submission. Entries close on Friday, 20 October 2017. Photos will be displayed in the Manjimup Gallery and judged on Saturday, 28 October 2017. Winners will be announced on that day.
