The Manjimup Lions Club have again donated kindly to a worthy cause by gifting a portable amplifier (PA) to the youth at the Manjin Recreation Plaza.
The Manjimup Lions Club supports many child and youth projects locally, nationally and internationally.
"The wellbeing, health and happiness of youth is a fabulous investment for our future and so recently the Lions decided to support the skate boarders, scooters and BMXers to show that they are important to our community. We were informed they did not need prizes or awards but a PA system they would love. This will help them to run their clinics and activities and also to have some of their own music playing whilst zooming around the new park - hopefully with helmets on" said Dr Paddy Pemberton Manjimup Lions Club member.
"The Lions Club are wonderful at what they do, which is consistently raising funds to purchase items of importance for the community and then kindly donating those items. We again thank them for another generous contribution to the community and the youth at the rec plaza" said Shire President Paul Omodei.
Jeremy Purdy, who has been a long term driving force behind the rec plaza extends a massive thank you to the Lions Club.
"The PA will be used to host events, competitions and after school activities. It will also assist organisations like Skateboarding WA, Australian Scooter Association, Ruckus Scooters and BMX associations to hold events; the more we can provide for events the easier it is for the promoters to host events in our region" said Jeremy.
Jeremy added that "All the pieces are now in place and it is important for the upcoming users of the rec plaza and their parents to take ownership and drive the continuation of promotions and events in the area."
