MEDIA RELEASE - Manjimup Indoor Sporting Pavilion ready for the basketball season
February 2016
Work on the floor of the Manjimup Indoor Sporting Pavilion (stadium) has been completed and will be ready for the basketball season to commence on 8 February 2016. The floor has been completely sanded back and new line markings have been applied for basketball, netball and badminton (court three only). The new line markings meet international standards for each of these disciplines, with the colours chosen to provide an ideal contrast against the light coloured timber flooring.
A sudden rise in relative humidity shortly after the final coat of sealer was applied, resulted in the peeling and cracking of that layer, delaying the commencement of the basketball season by one week. See the previous media release here.
Fortunately, the additional costs to repair the damage that was caused due to the unforeseen weather conditions has been covered by the Shire of Manjimup's insurer.
Shire President Wade DeCampo thanked the public, particularly the Basketball and Netball Associations, for their patience and support for the floor revamp, saying "even though there was a slight delay due to the additional work that needed to be carried out, the end result is magnificent and well worth the wait."
