Manjimup Regional AquaCentre turns 10 in July
MEDIA RELEASE - Manjimup Regional AquaCentre turns 10 in July
May 2016
The first of July 2016 marks 10 years since the opening of the Manjimup Regional AquaCentre. Two celebrations and a month of special offers and promotions are planned for July, in order to recognise this facility and all that it brings to the community.
On Saturday, 2 July from 10:00am till 12 noon a celebratory morning tea will be held with special guests, which the public is welcome to attend. Shire President Wade DeCampo explained how the AquaCentre is hoping to have as many patrons, sponsors and employees, both current and former, at this celebration as possible.
"The new AquaCentre really changed things for the community. At the time of the opening of the new facility, it was really amazing to see how people embraced having indoor heated pools that they could use all year round, as opposed to the former outdoor pool that was closed for half of the year. We think it's important that everyone who played a part in getting the project off the ground gets acknowledged at this celebration," said Cr DeCampo.
"It seems like just yesterday we opened this facility. Ten years on and it now a focal point of our region which has grown and evolved with the community."
Sunday, 3 July will be a 'Family Fun Day'. Entry to the pool is free all day, the inflatable will be available for use and there will be a range of other activities for the family to enjoy. "We really want to showcase all that the AquaCentre is," said Cr DeCampo.
"It is sometimes perceived as a place where people come to do laps of the pool, but it has become the multi-purpose facility that we always hoped it would be, which is of course the pools, but also includes a selection of fitness classes and a fitness room, swimming lessons and provides activities that families can enjoy no matter what the temperature is outside."
During the month of July there will be specials that regular patrons and newcomers can take advantage of, as well as giveaways.
