Mottram Street roadworks delayed
MEDIA RELEASE - Inclement weather delays Mottram Street Roadworks.
July 2017
Construction of the slip lanes in Mottram Street leading into Ipsen Street have been delayed due to wet weather. The Shire has been approached by the contractor, West Coast Profilers, with a request to make the site safe and functional and delay further works until September 2017. It is planned to temporarily re-open the road this week.
Construction on the slip lanes commenced in early June 2017 and became necessary for traffic flow after the re-opening of the Ipsen Street intersection in June 2015. This resulted in between 1100 and 3000 cars per day using the re-opened road, creating some congestion on Mottram Street
The delay is unfortunate but necessary for the long term viability of the road construction. We apologise for the inconvenience, and are expecting the contractors to return in September, with the aim of completing the project in early October said Acting Shire President Dean Bavich.
The site will be made safe and functional and Ipsen Street temporarily re-opened to traffic until the contractors return in September.
Further information on these projects and the town centre revitalisation project is available here.
