Pioneer Park Walpole - Overnight Camping Facility Closed
The Shire of Manjimup has been conducting a trial catering for self-contained vehicles staying overnight within FOUR designated bays on the hardstand of Pioneer Park.
Sadly it has been regularly observed that some members of the travelling public have been abusing this privilege and have not been complying with the conditions, which include:
- A limit on the number of vehicles to four vehicles, each being contained within the designated parking bays;
- The requirement for all vehicles to be wholly self-contained;
- The length of stay being limited to one night only.
Members of the Walpole community have reported excessive number of vehicles, many vehicles parking outside of the approved bays and vehicles such as camper vans/trailers and other vehicles, which are not self-contained. It should be noted that camping includes sleeping in any vehicle or tent.
Due to the inappropriate use of Pioneer Park for unauthorised and illegal camping, the Chief Executive Officer has instructed the current trial to be suspended until the 19th of April 2021.
Any person who camps within Pioneer Park during this period will be committing an offence and will be fined for unauthorised/illegal camping in accordance with Clause 10 of the Caravan Park and Camping Grounds Regulations 1997.
A PENALTY OF $1,000 APPLIES
