The new gateway building to the Shire of Manjimup will open to the public on Saturday 14 December 2019. This new multipurpose world class facility set in the picturesque Manjimup Heritage Park incorporates a unique museum, caf and visitor centre.
The PowerUp Museum is a joint funded project between the Australia Government through the Building Better Regions Fund, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (Royalties for Regions), and the Shire of Manjimup.
Forming one of the eight components of the Revitalisation of Manjimup's Town Centre, the major transformation of the Heritage Park into a unique multipurpose attraction is almost complete with the PowerUp Museum building permanently changing the faade of the park and the entry to the Manjimup town centre.
The museum showcases the history of electricity in Western Australia, through modern exhibitions, engaging displays and interactive building features, providing educational and interpretative experiences for all visitors.
The Manjimup Visitor Centre has relocated to the new building and provides a new information and retail stop for visitors to the town and region and the new Park caf provides inside and alfresco dining space for up to 100 persons that looks over the central park area.
"It has been exciting to see the transformation of the Heritage Park over the past two years and I commend the tireless efforts of staff, volunteers, contractors, stakeholders and funding partners for bringing this project to fruition on time and within budget" commented Shire President Paul Omodei. "This museum and surrounds exemplifies what a regional community can achieve."
The museum will be open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 3pm on Sundays.
