COVID-19 Closure of Community/Recreation Facilities
As a precaution and in the interests of our community to stop the spread of COVID19, the Shire of Manjimup has closed the following community and recreation facilities as of 12 noon yesterday, 23 March 2020.
The following community facilities are now closed:
- Manjimup Regional AquaCentre;
- Manjimup Indoor Sports Pavilion;
- Collier Street Pavilion;
- Pemberton Sports Club;
- Northcliffe Recreation Centre;
- Walpole Recreation Centre;
- All Public Libraries (Manjimup, Pemberton, Northcliffe and Walpole); and
- Manjimup Heritage Park buildings including Power Up Electricity Museum, State Timber Museum, Steam Museum and Hamlet. The public toilets on Edward Street will also be closed;
Re-opening these facilities will be reviewed in accordance with Government direction.
We would like to reassure you that we have robust cleaning procedures in place at our facilities that remain open, including increasing frequency of cleaning.
More information will be released shortly regarding keeping our community mentally and physically healthy through ongoing services from our Community Services team. We are currently exploring ways to deliver some library services. This will be detailed in a future press release.
"We understand the potential social impact of closing these facilities will have on our community. It is more important than ever for our community to make sure they are staying active. Our team will continue to support our community, wherever possible, to ensure we can keep healthy and active during these challenging times" said the Shire President Paul Omodei.
Please refer to our previous media release for information on the Manjimup Regional AquaCentre memberships, lessons, term passes and direct debit arrangements. Contact the AquaCentre direct should you require additional information.
The Shire of Manjimup thank you for being careful and following the advices from the Commonwealth and State Governments to help protect our elderly and vulnerable community members.
