Shire President re-elected
At the Ordinary Council Meeting held yesterday, 26 October 2017, Cr Paul Omodei was re-elected unopposed as the Shire President. Cr Cliff Winfield was elected as Deputy Shire President. The Shire President and Deputy positions are for a two year term, until October 2019.
Cr Omodei expressed his gratitude to Councillors, "I wish to express my heartfelt thank you to Councillors for putting in me your trust to be the Shire President of this amazing organisation and amazing district. I can assure you that I will provide you with honesty and integrity in my leadership. I will provide strong, stable and inclusive leadership to this Council and work to the best of my ability."
Cr Omodei acknowledged other candidates that stood for the election, welcomed those that were successful and expressed commiserations to those that were unsuccessful, particularly sitting councillors.
He welcomed Cr Winfield as his Deputy and thanked Cr Bavich for his strong support as past Deputy Shire President.
"The challenge moving ahead is not only to provide leadership to the district, but to complete those projects on the board at the moment and to formulate a strategic approach to the next State and Federal elections." said Cr Omodei.
A swearing in ceremony for newly elected Councillors was conducted by Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Campbell; Paul Omodei and Jayde Salomone (Central Ward), Murray Ventris (West Ward), Cliff Winfield (East Ward), Wendy Eiby (Coastal Ward) and David Tapley (South Ward).
