The Manjimup Regional AquaCentre is focused on power saving with the recent installation of a 100kW peak DC solar PV System.
The system consists of 288 ground mounted solar panels over 571.4 square metres. The system has been installed on the vacant area just north of the facility as the pillow roof of the AquaCentre is not suitable for a roof mounted solar system.
Shire President Paul Omodei is enthusiastic about the project "the AquaCentre is the highest power user of all Shire of Manjimup facilities and the costs related to this power usage place a significant burden on rate payers to maintain".
"The installation of the solar panels is projected to reduce the AquaCentre's yearly power bill by 25%, a saving of over $40,000 annually and also reduces the Shire's carbon footprint, the anticipated payback period for this system is around 4 years" he said.
The new system was commissioned in December 2019, and is already showing a significant reduction in the AquaCentre's electricity costs.
