Young people are invited to the seventh youth festival to be staged by the Shire of Manjimup Youth Network from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday 17th October at Pemberton Memorial Park. #So-My-Fest is a free event.
This year's festival will highlight the musical and creative talents of local young people, including Amphead, Lou Cully, Hanna Rose, Lucy Tartaglia, Charlie and Olivia Youngson, there will also be a variety of fun activities as well as food from Source Kitchen.
This year the festival is at the Pemberton Memorial Park, where all the activities and stalls will be easily accessible from the main street.
The 2020 festival offers a range of activities from Monster Ball to henna art, as well as the Ninja Challenge and a bucking bull. The festival welcomes everyone and features a separate area for younger children and parents with face painting, a bouncy castle and coffee van. The Shire of Manjimup Youth Network is very excited about the festival with this year having a real focus on music and performance!
"This year has been a challenge for everyone, including our youth and this is a great opportunity for them to get out and have some fun. One third of our population is classified as youth, which is the age group of 12 -25 year olds. They are our future and this event is about engaging them, as well as acknowledging, appreciating and celebrating the valuable contribution they make in all of our communities," said Shire President Paul Omodei.
The Shire of Manjimup Youth Network aim to support Youth Mental Health with Headspace, SWAMS, BYA Connect, Rainbow Faction and Act-Belong-Commit attending the event and providing information to young people on the day.
The event has been made possible by funding and in-kind support from the following organisations: Manjimup Local Drug Action Group, Department of Communities, Shire of Manjimup, Northcliffe Family Centre, Manjimup Community Resource Centre, Quinninup Community Association and Pemberton Sports Club.
Free bus transport is being provided from Manjimup, Northcliffe or Walpole. You can reserve a seat on the bus by calling the Shire of Manjimup. Bookings for the bus are essential, please call 9771 7777 by Wednesday 13 October to book your seat.
