The Shire of Manjimup has been successful in obtaining funding from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSCI) to support local sports and recreation clubs.
The Warren Blackwood Every Club program replaces the previous Club Development Officer Scheme which ceased at the end of June 2018.
The program is a joint partnership between the Shire of Manjimup and the Shire of Nannup with the aim of resourcing and supporting sport and recreation clubs to create stronger, healthier, happier and safer communities. The program will receive $15,000 grant funding in 2018/19 and a further $10,000 in 2019/20.
The implementation of this program will improve the overall governance of clubs in the Shire of Manjimup and Nannup. Through this initiative over 100 clubs will have the opportunity to take part in a number of workshops to increase their knowledge and support their growth in the areas of grants, sponsorship, roles and responsibilities, succession planning and risk management. Furthermore, the program outcomes will allow the Shire to maintain an up to date club database and provide the clubs with one on one support to improve their overall governance. The funding also provides the Shire with the capacity to continue to act as a conduit between the DLGSCI, state sporting associations and local clubs.
Shire President, Paul Omodei said "The State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is a major supporter of the promotion and growth of sport and recreation in Western Australia. It will be wonderful to see our local clubs and their tireless volunteers benefit from this program and I'm happy to see the continuation of this successful club development scheme".
