MEDIA RELEASE - Walpole Councillor celebrates 21 Years
May 2016
On Thursday, 5 May 2016, Cr Dave Tapley from the South Ward celebrated 21 years as a Councillor. The long-time Walpole local, affectionately known as the 'Mayor of Walpole', was formally recognised at the Ordinary Council Meeting held that evening.
Dave Tapley was first elected to Council on 5 May in 1995. He has been re-elected five times since then and is currently serving his sixth four-year term on Council. Shire President Wade DeCampo described Dave as the "perfect" Councillor, saying "his focus is always, always his community and what he can do to make their quality of life better."
"We could all learn a lot from Dave. He's a true gentlemen and an absolute shining star on Council. Whilst his community means the world to him, he always makes an effort to be a part of initiatives and projects in other wards and has one of the strongest representations at Council events," said Cr DeCampo.
"What we all appreciate and enjoy about Dave, is that he is so astute at being a Councillor, he enjoys every minute of it and he does everything he can to make sure we all have that same stance and positive outlook."
"Congratulations Dave, and from the bottom of all of our hearts, thank you so much for everything that you do both for the Shire and for Council," concluded Cr DeCampo.
