MEDIA RELEASE - Wellness and Lifestyle Expo - 2015
April 2015
The Shire of Manjimup's Home and Community Care (HACC) is hosting its biennial expo to showcase services and products that are available to support people to live independently. The Wellness and Lifestyle Expo, which was formerly known as the Seniors Expo, will take place on Monday 20 April 2015 at the Manjimup Indoor Sports Pavilion between 10am and 3pm.
"The expo is not just for seniors, which is why it has been re-branded as the Wellness and Lifestyle Expo," explained Shire President Wade DeCampo. "The expo is for anybody who is interested in learning more about how they, or their loved ones, can continue to live a happy, healthy and active lifestyle, in the comfort of their own homes as they age."
The expo will feature a number of exhibits from organisations and businesses, including Alzheimers Australia, the Independent Living Centre, Aged Care Facilities and Warren Blackwood Community Health. Experienced representatives will be providing product demonstrations and expert advice on a range of wellness and lifestyle options to support independent living. Free individual health assessments will also take place throughout the day.
A FREE bus service is available to transport people to and from the expo. The bus service/s will pick people up from Walpole at 8am, Northcliffe at 9am, Pemberton at 9:30am, Quinninup at 9:30am and a home pick-up in Manjimup commences at 9am. The bus services will leave the expo at 3pm to return people to their pick-up points. Bookings for transport are essential, and can be made by phoning the HACC office on 9777 1455.
"The Shire is very focused and committed to delivering services such as HACC and projects like the Seniors Housing Opportunity and the Wellness and Lifestyle Centre, which will support our community members to age in place," said Cr DeCampo. "We want to keep people and their families in the community, and a big part of that is educating everyone on the services and products that can assist in making this possible, which is why the information that will be on display at the expo is so applicable."
"The expo is a great opportunity for everyone to have all of their questions answered by the experts and a good social day out for people from right across the Shire," said Cr DeCampo.
