The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal is launching the first round of the Future Drought Fund’s Networks to Build Drought Resilience program. Funded through the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund, the program will offer funding to enable communities to become more prepared for and resilient to drought.
The Shire of Manjimup has been recognised as an agriculture-dependent community and local community groups are eligible to apply for funding to adapt, reorganise or transform to meet the challenges caused by drought.
“Grants can fund events, projects, activities, training, and small-scale infrastructure that assists communities to build their capacity by strengthening social and community networking, support, engagement, and wellbeing, commented Shire President Paul Omodei.
You can apply if you are a not-for-profit organisation in remote, rural, or regional Australia with an ABN or Incorporation Certificate in an area that is agriculture-dependent. The first round is due on the 5 July 2021.
Community organisations can seek funds under one or more of the following categories:
- Build community capacity.
- Events that build community connection and build understanding of climate risk.
- Enable/improve collaboration via networks.
- Upgrade small scale community infrastructure.
