The Little Taddies Child Care Centre has been substantially refurbished
as part of the Pemberton Community Colocation Precinct project. The centre
reopened on 2 August 2021.
The WA Government, through Lotterywest, provided a grant of almost $1.2
million to support the precinct which includes the Little Taddies Child Care
Centre.
Little Taddies Child Care Centre, an important service for the
Pemberton community, has received significant upgrades to provide a safe,
inclusive and modern facility for educators and children alike. The
refurbishment, which commenced in February 2021 has been undertaken by Bunbury based
builder, Civilcon. The project included removal and replacement of redundant,
unsafe and aged infrastructure, upgrades to make the whole facility fully
accessible, and improvements to create a more functional and comfortable space.
All upgrades complemented the excellent work the Centre has already contributed
to the site including a great outdoor play area. These refurbishment will
substantially enhance the development and educational opportunities for the
children attending.
The building works were completed in late June and the Shire and
Taddies staff worked hard to prepare the space for their relocation and
re-opening on Monday 2 August 2021. The Centre was temporarily relocated to the
Pemberton Camp School and whilst they have been accommodated well, they were eager
to move to the fresh new facility.
Little Taddies Child Care Centre has been operating as a non-profit,
incorporated body since 1998 and during that time Maria Mighall has been
Director for 20 years. “It has been worth the wait, we couldn’t be happier with
our beautiful new space. The educators, children and families are very eager to
move back,” says Maria.
Shire President Paul Omodei adds “the Pemberton community rely on this
service so it’s great to see it getting the attention it needs. Little Taddies
can now continue their important service in supporting parents and the community”.
Little Taddies was quite busy last term with some new enrolments,
however there is still space left in most age groups.
Major supporter of the project, Lotterywest, supports hundreds of
community projects and events around the State. Last financial year, they
provided a record $313.4 million to the WA community.
The overall Precinct is due to be fully completed in June 2022.
