Cr Omodei re-elected as Shire President
At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 21 October 2021, Cr Paul Omodei was re-elected as the Shire President and Cr Denise Jenkins was elected as Deputy Shire President. The Shire President and Deputy positions are for a two year term until October 2023.
Cr Omodei expressed his gratitude to Councillors, “I thank you Councillors for your confidence and thank you Councillor Skoss for your healthy competition for the position of president.”
Cr Omodei brings leadership, continuity and experience saying “the president’s role is a very time consuming job and I hold membership on many committees including South West Local Government Association, Regional Road Group, Warren Blackwood Alliance of Councils, Local Tourism Organisation and the newly established Just Transition Committee, as well as membership on the Board of the Local Government Insurance Scheme”.
In assuming the title Cr Omodei stated “I am happy represent you and I will represent you at the highest level and with all of my best endeavours and try and provide you with leadership you can be proud of and we have much to be proud of in our district. I promise to be inclusive and to dedicate all of my time to Council, I am totally committed to the Council and its future.”
Cr Denise Jenkins said she hoped that with her experience, her knowledge and community connections she could be the conduit between the community and Council and support the Shire President through the difficult and trying times ahead.
Acting Chief Executive Officer, Brian Robinson led a swearing in ceremony for newly elected and re-elected Councillors; Paul Omodei and Donelle Buegge (Central Ward), Murray Ventris (West Ward), Cliff Winfield (East Ward), Wendy Eiby (Coastal Ward) and Jennifer Willcox (South Ward).
