Firebreak and Fuel Hazard Reduction Reminder for 2021/2022 Bushfire Season
The Shire of Manjimup is reminding all land owners that fire control is their responsibility and needs to be taken seriously at this time of year.
Shire President Paul Omodei stated that “preparing your property to the standards set within the Shire of Manjimup’s Firebreak and Fuel Hazard Reduction Notice is a legal obligation and land owners and tenants need to read, understand and familiarise themselves with the notice”.
If you haven’t received your notice please contact the Shire or download it from the Shire website.
The requirements for Zone 8 – Manjimup, Pemberton and Quinninup must be in place by the 11 December 2021 and for Zone 6 – Northcliffe and Walpole requirements must be carried out by 18 December 2021. Having works completed by these dates will avoid works orders and the possibility of infringements from being issued when Shire Rangers undergo inspections of properties commencing after the requirement dates.
“Land owners are required to reduce the risk of bushfire on their property thereby giving the Local Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades, themselves and neighbouring property owners a safe environment and reducing the impact that fire can have on the community” Cr Omodei added.
If land owners have any questions regarding fire control, or need further information regarding the requirements of the notice, please contact the rangers at the Shire of Manjimup.
