The Pemberton Community Resource Centre, with the support of six other community groups, has successfully secured funding from Lotterywest for the fit out of Balang Miya Pemberton Community Hub.
The project has been in development for over 10 years, and since securing funding in 2020 has faced many challenges to get ‘off-the-ground’. Despite these challenges the Hub is now under construction and due for completion in late 2022. To ensure high functionality and to provide a quality service to the broader community, funds were sought to undertake a fit out of the internal spaces.
Although the internal spaces will be fitted out, the group are yet to secure funding for place making and landscaping, as such the external spaces will have minimal finishes when completed.
“In adversity the stakeholder group have proven resilience and continue to seek funding and support for each element of the Hub” said Shire President Paul Omodei, “Thanks to Lotterywest for their continued support of this important asset for Pemberton.”
The Co-location Precinct will provide a new home for the Public Library, Returned Service League (RSL), Pemberton Community Resource Centre, Pemberton Arts Group, Pemberton History and Heritage Group, Pemberton Chamber of Commerce, Little Taddies Day Care and the Visitor Centre.
Lotterywest support the Balang Miya Pemberton Community Hub Project. As the only State Government owned lottery in Australia where all the profits are returned to the community, Lotterywest is commited to supporting Western Australian community groups.
