Reminder to all dog and cat owners in the Shire of Manjimup that pet registrations are now overdue. Residents are urged to check their pet registrations are current, as renewal notices were mailed out to pet owners in October 2022.
Overdue notices are currently being sent out and Rangers will shortly be making personal contact with those residents who have not renewed their pet’s registration. If your pet has passed away or moved outside the district you are required under legislation to notify the Shire so that their details can be updated accordingly.
Shire President Paul Omodei advised it could cost you more if you fail to register. “If pet owners fail to register their dog or cat, they may be issued with an infringement notice and will still be liable for the cost of the registration.”
“If you haven’t received your renewal notice or your pet/s details have changed, you are urged to please contact the Shire on 9771 7777, as soon as possible, to check and update your contact details to avoid receiving an infringement” he said.
All dogs aged over three months must be registered and microchipped, and all cats aged over six months must be registered, sterilised and microchipped.
Pets can be registered in the Shire of Manjimup for life, three years or one year, with many residents choosing the life-time registration option, which saves time and costs associated with annual renewals.
It is also a good time for pet owners to check their pets’ registration details are up to date, if you have moved house or changed phone numbers. Keeping your pet’s registration current and up to date ensures you can be contacted should your animal find itself off your property and we can make arrangements for its safe return.
Thank you to everyone who has already registered their pets by the 31 October 2022 deadline.
