The Pemberton RSL’s Honour Board has been re-hung in pride of place in the newly constructed RSL Boardroom at the Pemberton Community Hub (Balang Miya).
During the construction and renovation phase of the Hub, the Honour Board and other RSL memorabilia, was transferred to the Manjimup Volunteer Hub for repair, refurbishment and temporary storage.
Over a five month period, a group of four volunteers (Sam Cleveland, Ed and Sue Gregg and Ian Wilson) painstakingly removed each brass name plaque for cleaning and polishing so that the names of the bravest in our community are displayed distinctly and valiantly. Repairs to damaged sections of the Board were also completed to ensure its preservation for future generations.
The Shire of Manjimup has arranged and installed a new hanging system for the Honour Board and the RSL’s paintings, to ensure they are displayed to maximum effect. Furthermore, grant funding obtained by the Shire from the Department of Veterans Affairs enabled the construction of three bespoke jarrah display and storage cabinets. The new hanging system and cabinets will enable the Pemberton RSL to stage displays of their memorabilia in a way that keeps alive the story of those who served.
