Manjimup Trail Bike Hub Community Information Sessions Ready to Roll
Media Release: Manjimup Trail Bike Hub Community Information Sessions Ready to Roll
October 2024
The Shire of Manjimup is excited to announce a series of community information sessions to share the latest updates on the Manjimup Trail Bike Hub project. These sessions will be held across locations along the proposed routes and are open to community members, businesses, and trail bike enthusiasts.
The Manjimup Trail Bike Hub is a visionary project designed to enhance our local economy and establish Manjimup as Australia’s premier trail bike destination. The initiative, which began in 2015, has undergone extensive research, planning, and community consultation. An economic impact assessment commissioned by the Shire of Manjimup identified the potential for the hub to become a major tourist destination which would generate $13.4 million annually in economic benefits to the region.
Since its inception, the project has gained significant momentum. In 2017, the Council approved the feasibility report highlighting the hub’s potential. By 2019, the Manjimup Trail Bike Hub Association was established to oversee its development.
To date, the Shire has committed $576,500 to the project, with an additional $980,000 provided through the Australian Government’s Regional Recovery Partnerships Program in 2021. The development will proceed in stages, targeting various rider segments including Adventure Riders, Trail Bike Tourers, and Family Explorers, among others.
Shire President Donelle Buegge invites everyone to attend one of the five information sessions to learn more about the project’s benefits, history, and future stages. “We encourage community members to engage with the Manjimup Trail Bike Hub project and learn about how its exciting developments can contribute to our region” said the Shire President.
Community information sessions will be held between 13 and 26 October 2024 in towns along the Stage 1 proposed routes, including Manjimup, Northcliffe, Quinninup, and Pemberton.
