Enrolling to vote

You must be enrolled to vote at least six weeks prior to the election date.

Your details on the State Electoral Roll must be up to date at least six weeks prior to the election date, if you have recently moved to the Shire you need to update your details on the State Roll.

Ward Changes and Owners and Occupiers Roll.

In the 2023 election there will be changes to wards and ward boundaries.

Owners and occupiers who own property in a ward they don't live in and wish to vote in that ward need to be on the Shire of Manjimup Owners and Occupiers Role (if you were on the role prior to the ward boundary changes you have been transferred. If your properties are now all in the same ward, you are eliegle for one vote in that ward).

To be eligible to vote in Shire of Manjimup Elections, you must be over 18 and enrolled on the State Electoral Roll (SER) or the Shire of Manjimup's Owners and Occupiers roll. Voting in Local Government elections, while not compulsory, is an important way for you to connect with grassroots government.

All residents in the Shire of Manjimup who are enrolled on the State Electoral Roll are automatically enrolled to vote in Shire of Manjimup elections.

If you are over 18 and not enrolled on the State Electoral Roll, you must submit an enrolment application.

If you have recently moved into the Shire, you must update your enrolment on the State Electoral Roll.

Owners and Occupiers Roll

If you own or occupy property within the Shire of Manjimup in a different ward to that which you live, you may be eligible to enrol on the Owners and Occupiers Roll (OOR). Body Corporates who own property, may nominate two people to vote on behalf of the company. For example;

You live in Manjimup and have a holiday cottage at Windy Harbour. You must enrol on the SER for your Manjimup address.You can apply to enrol on the Coastal Ward OOR.
You live in Pemberton and rent a commercial premises in Manjimup. You must enrol on the SER for your Pemberton address.You can apply to enrol on the Central Ward OOR.
You live in Walpole and rent a commercial premises in Walpole in your name. You must enrol on the SER for your Walpole address.You are not eligible to enrol for your rented premises.
You live in Walpole and rent a commercial premises in Walpole in a company name. You must enrol on the SER for your Walpole address.Your company can nominate two people to enrol against the commercial premises.
You live in Perth and have a holiday home in Northcliffe. You must enrol on the SER for your Perth address.You can apply to enrol on the Coastal Ward OOR.
You live in Queensland and own property in Manjimup in your name. You must enrol on the Queensland SER.You can apply to enrol on the Central Ward OOR.

Enrolment on the OOR is made via the forms below. Completion of the form does not guarantee enrolment - we will write to you within 14 days of receiving your completed form, confirming or denying your enrolment. You have the right of appeal to the Electoral Commissioner if we deny your enrolment request.

Enrolment forms for OOR

Enrolment by occupiers is valid from the date of acceptance and expires 6 months after the second ordinary election is held. (In some special cases, enrolment may expire 6 months after or the day after the third ordinary election.) We will write to you inviting you to renew your enrolment.

Enrolment by owners of property expires when the property is sold or transferred from your or the body corporate's name. For this reason, it is vitally important that our Rates Department is advised by your settlement agent in a prompt manner, when the sale of a property falls over.
