Reminder to all dog and cat owners in the Shire of Manjimup that pet registrations are now overdue. Residents are urged to check their pet registrations are current, as renewal notices were mailed out to pet owners last year in October 2020.
Rangers have written to over 300 residents who have not yet renewed the registration of their dog or cat where the animal was registered prior to the due date. Rangers will shortly be making personal contact with those residents who do not respond to the reminder letters and will give them seven days in which to register their pets unless their pet has passed away or has moved outside the district in which case, under the Act, you must still notify the Shire.
If after seven days the pet owners have still not registered their dog or cat, they face a fine and will still be liable for the cost of the registration.
Shire Rangers have allowed a few months grace period on overdue registrations, so if you haven't received your renewal notice or your pet/s details have changed, we urge you to please contact the Shire on 9771 7777 as soon as possible to check and update your contact details to avoid receiving an infringement.
All dogs aged over three months must be registered and microchipped, and all cats aged over six months must be registered, sterilised and microchipped.
Pets can be registered in the Shire of Manjimup for life, three years or one year, with many residents choosing the life-time registration option, which saves time and costs associated with annual renewals.
It is also a good time for pet owners to check their pets' registration details are up to date, if you have moved house or changed phone numbers. Keeping your pet's registration current and up to date ensures you can be contacted should your animal find itself off your property and we can make arrangements for its safe return.
Thank you to everyone who has already registered their pets by the 31 October 2020 deadline.
