Capture 'places and faces' over the school holidays
MEDIA RELEASE - Show off your favourite 'places and faces' over the school holidays
April 2017
The Shire of Manjimup and Manjimup Photo Club are challenging locals and visitors to capture their favourite face in their favourite place during the school holidays, and submit the photograph into the 'Places and Faces' photography acquisition prize. The competition will run until October 2017 and entrants are in the running to win from a prize pool of $4,500 and potentially see their photo appear in various publications for years to come.
There are two basic criteria for photos to meet in order to be eligible to enter this completion - they need to be taken within the Southern Forests region (Shire of Manjimup) and contain a person, or people, enjoying themselves.
"The Southern Forests region is picturesque in so many ways, but at this time of the year as the leaves are changing colour and the paddocks are starting to look green again, we find ourselves with the perfect backdrop upon which to capture some special moments on camera," said Shire President Paul Omodei.
"I'm urging people to go exploring, get your family out and about this school holidays and discover a place you've never been before," added Cr Omodei. "The size of the Shire of Manjimup is over 7000 square kilometres, which means that you can feel like you're on holiday when you're still within your own region - take an overnight trip or even a couple of day trips, by 'holidaying' in the Southern Forests you're supporting the economy of your region and by entering this competition, you'll be helping to promote it."
Further details, suggestions and associated entry forms are available from www.manjimup.wa.gov.au/placesandfaces - terms and conditions apply and an entry form and authority form must be completed for every photo submission. Entries close on Friday, 20 October 2017. Photos will be displayed in the Manjimup Gallery and judged on Saturday, 28 October 2017. Winners will be announced on that day.
