Vegetation clearing

Development Approval is required for the clearing of private land and reserves. Heavy penalties may be applied for land cleared without a DA in place.

Some vegetation clearing is specifically exempt under the following Council documents:

• Local Planning Scheme No.4; and
• Firebreak and Fuel Hazard Reduction Notice.

The Development Approval process is the mechanism used to ensure land clearing requirements are met. Please note, obtaining Development Approval to clear land does not exempt you from also obtaining the relevant approvals from other government agencies.
